Colostomy Repair, 45 Cases

Abstract
A clinical observation has been made on 45 cases of colostomy repair who were evacuated in state
of colostomy made in injured colons, from hospitals located in front line to this 1st army Hospital
during 3 years from Aug. 1966 to Aug. 1969.
1. During first 2 years, from Aug. 1966 to July 1968, colon was prepared with combined cleansing
and antimicrobialagents in 29 cases. During late one year. from Aug. 1968 to Aug. 1969. that was
prepared with cleansning enema only in 16 cases.
2. We observed there was no significant difference in postoperative complication rate, between
themthods of colon preparation.
3. We observed that postoperative complication rate was mainly related to the interval from
colostomy to colostomy repair and types of operative procedure.
